Having settled ourselves in our front row seats for a musical performance in front of a two thousand year old, Roman aqueduct it was time for another drink.
And Paul discovered yet another local specialty - this 1996 wine. We took the photo so we could find it again at the wine shop - although you'd think we could remember - its not your everyday bottle, is it?
And because I had lived on only salad for three days, I was dying for some meat. This region specialises in roast piglet and roast lamb. So I ordered roast lamb leg. And I literally got what I ordered - the whole leg - plus the tail.
Nothing else. That's all. Just the whole leg, plus the tail. A very little lamb, I might add, and I don't want to think about the ethical issues right now because it was the best lamb I have ever tasted. Even better than my Mum's lamb roast, which is saying something. I ate the whole lot! And I didn't share it with anybody.
The dance performance was .... well, very interesting. Lots of people watching - this is only a handful. Scottish and Irish dancing - in Spain. But we must all broaden our horizons sometimes, must we not?
And the aqueduct looked very dramatic under lights.
While I had the lamb, another table ordered the roast pork. Because it was for about 8 people, it was a whole pig. So the restaurant owner put on his special gold chain, read from a special manuscript, blessed the pork and all who ate it, sliced it with a plate, (yes, a plate, to demonstrate how soft, juicy and succulent it was) and then smashed the plate on the ground!
Very entertaining.
We dragged our tummies back to the hotel ...
....... and had a final look at the Alcazar from our garden before bed.
If you go to Espana, you must go to Segovia. There's more.
