La Defense is regarded as " a major commercial and business district of the Paris Aire Urbane". Sounds great doesn't it? And it is really something amazing. All glass and concrete and steel. Very modern, sleek, cutting edge.

La Defense has two fabulous highlights.
The "fickle finger of fate" ...........
And the Grande Arche de la Defense.
This incredible "invisible arch" is made of concrete, steel and glass, and mirrors the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs Elysee. The two are in a direct line of sight, about 8 km and 200 years apart. Francois Mitterand commissioned the Grande Arche de la Defense. What a masterpiece. It is "gi-normous!" Those black specks are people sitting on the steps.

We came up from the underground quite close to it ..... and I walked back ........
............ and back.......................
.................. and further back .........................
............ and back and back until I could get it all in the picture!
Pity I forgot to turn around and try to snap the Arc de Triomphe in the opposite direction. Maybe you could do that ……..
